The EVO10RF is an intelligent wireless photoelectric smoke alarm powered by a sealed 10-year lithium battery, delivering reliable fire detection without the need for battery replacement throughout the life of the alarm. Built-in RF (radio frequency) wireless interconnection allows compatible EVO alarms to communicate instantly, providing whole-home notification when smoke is detected.

Secure the mounting plate to the ceiling or wall using the supplied screws, then rotate the EVO10RF onto the plate until it clicks into position. The alarm will beep once and the LED will illuminate briefly to confirm activation.
Note: The alarm must be activated before it can be tested or wirelessly interconnected.
Ensure all of the alarms are activated.
Choose one alarm to be the master connection point for the other alarms. Then press the master alarm’s Test/Hush button three times within three seconds. The red LED will flash rapidly, indicating “pairing mode” is active for 90 seconds. While the master is in pairing mode, press the Test/Hush button three times within three seconds on each additional alarm. A beep and one red LED flash confirm successful pairing.
After pairing all of the alarms, press and hold the master alarm’s Test button for up to 25 seconds to verify that all interconnected alarms are triggered.
Up to 40 compatible Emerald RF-enabled alarms can be interconnected in one network.
The manual indicates an indoor range of >20 metres; however, walls, building materials, floor levels and the property layout may reduce the effective range.
Note: EVO10RF alarms cannot wirelessly interconnect with alarms from other manufacturers.
EchoTag is an audible diagnostic function that allows installers and technicians to retrieve product information from the EVO10RF using the EchoTag mobile app. The app is available in both major app stores and is free to download and use.
The alarm transmits its information through a coded sequence of sounds, which the app interprets and displays.
This provides a convenient way to access alarm information during installation, servicing or troubleshooting, and can be done without removing the alarm from its mounting plate.
To activate EchoTag:
- Download the EchoTag app from your app store on a mobile device
- Open the EchoTag app on a compatible mobile device
- Position the mobile device close to the EVO10RF
- Press the alarm’s Test/Hush button five times within five seconds
- The EVO10RF will transmit its product information through its sounder
- Follow the prompts in the EchoTag app to view the available information
Tip: Complete the process in a reasonably quiet environment so the mobile device can clearly detect the alarm’s EchoTag signal.
The EVO10RF can be combined with compatible Emerald RF-enabled alarms, environmental detectors and control accessories to create a broader, easier-to-manage safety solution:
- Emerald EVO RF-enabled smoke alarms: Combine compatible battery-powered, mains-powered and hybrid power Emerald EVO Alarms within the same interconnected network. When one interconnected smoke alarm detects smoke, all alarms in the network sound to help provide an earlier warning throughout the property.
- Emerald SafeLink WiFi Hub and SafeLink mobile app: Connect the alarm network to Wi-Fi, giving residents access to remote notifications, alarm testing, device location, event history and system information through the SafeLink app.
- Smoke Alarm Controller (EP-SA-CONT-RF): Provides an accessible way to test, silence and locate interconnected alarms without reaching ceiling-mounted units, particularly useful in homes with high ceilings or for residents with limited mobility.
- Water Leak Detector (EP-WA-RF): Adds water-leak monitoring in areas such as laundries, kitchens, bathrooms and near hot-water systems, extending the protection beyond fire detection.
- Heat Alarm (EP-HA-RF-10): Adds temperature-based detection for locations where a smoke alarm may be unsuitable due to cooking fumes, dust or airborne particles, such as certain kitchen or garage applications. This makes it particularly useful near solar battery energy storage systems, where rapid temperature increases may provide an early indication of a developing fire. Australian battery installations are governed by AS/NZS 5139, which recommends detection in the same room as an energy storage system. Additional requirements can vary by state, building classification and installation program. Installation must follow the product instructions and applicable regulations.
- Carbon Monoxide Alarm (EP-CO-RF-07): Adds dedicated carbon monoxide detection using electrochemical sensing technology, providing protection from a hazard that the EVO10RF smoke sensor is not designed to detect.
- EVO 140 mm Extension Plate (EVO10BP14): Supports neat retrofit installations by helping cover marks, fixing holes or ceiling cut-outs left by a previously installed alarm or mounting base.
