Emerald EVO Smoke Alarm 10 Year Battery Powered
Product Description
The EVO10 is a standalone photoelectric smoke alarm powered by a sealed 10-year lithium battery, providing dependable fire detection without the need for wiring or battery replacement throughout the life of the alarm. Featuring Advanced Split Spectrum sensing technology, EchoTag intelligent diagnostics and E Memory event logging, it delivers reliable performance in a slim, modern design.
Ideal for homeowners and electricians, the EVO10 is a practical solution for standalone applications where wireless interconnection isn’t required. It also provides an easy upgrade from older battery-operated, standalone smoke alarms with no wiring needed for installation.
The EVO10 complies with AS 3786:2014 and AS 3786:2023 Australian Standards. As a standalone smoke alarm, it is not suitable where interconnected smoke alarms are required, including Queensland homes that must comply with the State’s interconnected smoke alarm legislation. However, it remains a compliant solution for many standalone applications and jurisdictions where interconnected alarms are not mandated for the intended installation.

Most commonly asked Questions
Secure the supplied mounting plate to the ceiling or wall using appropriate fixings, then rotate the EVO10 onto the mounting plate until it clicks into position. The alarm will beep once and the LED will illuminate briefly, confirming that it has been activated.
The alarm must be fully engaged with the mounting plate before testing. If it does not sound during testing, first check that it has been correctly installed and activated.
No. The EVO10 is a standalone smoke alarm and does not contain an RF interconnection function. It cannot be paired with other smoke alarms, the SafeLink WiFi Hub or the Emerald Smoke Alarm Controller.
Installers must confirm whether standalone alarms are permitted under the applicable state or territory legislation. The EVO10 does not meet Queensland requirements where interconnected smoke alarms are mandatory, but may be suitable for applications where a standalone AS 3786:2023 photoelectric smoke alarm is permitted.
Where possible, install the EVO10 near the centre of the ceiling and at least 300 mm from adjoining walls.
For wall mounting, position the alarm at least 300 mm from a corner and no more than 500 mm below the ceiling. On sloped, peaked or cathedral ceilings, install it between 500 mm and 1,500 mm from the highest point.
Alarm locations must also comply with the applicable state or territory legislation and installation requirements.
Do not install the EVO10 in areas regularly exposed to steam, condensation, cooking fumes, dust, insects or vehicle exhaust, including bathrooms, kitchens and garages. These environmental conditions may cause unwanted alarms.
The alarm should also be:
- At least 3 metres from significant moisture sources, such as showers, dishwashers and washing machines.
- At least 1 metre from air-conditioning outlets, heating or cooling vents, air returns and ventilation grilles.
- Installed only where temperatures remain between 0°C and 40°C.
- Kept away from dead-air spaces where smoke may not circulate effectively.
After activation, press and hold the Test/Hush button. The alarm should sound and the red LED should flash, confirming that its battery and electronic circuitry are operating.
In normal standby mode, the red LED flashes once every 48 seconds. Installers can also access the alarm’s diagnostic functions through the Test/Hush button:
Two presses: Accesses E Memory to identify a previous low-battery, fault or alarm event.
Four presses: Accesses Lifetime Memory, which stores up to 20 alarm activations.
Five presses: Activates EchoTag, allowing product information to be read through the EchoTag app.
The alarm should be tested monthly after installation and cleaned regularly using a vacuum with a soft-brush attachment. Never use an open flame to test it.
