The EVO2401 is a 240V hardwired photoelectric smoke alarm with a replaceable 9V battery backup, delivering reliable fire detection for new homes, renovations and smoke alarm upgrades. Featuring Advanced Split Spectrum sensing technology, EchoTag intelligent diagnostics, E Memory event logging and double mesh chamber protection, it provides dependable performance with simple installation and ongoing maintenance.
Designed for both homeowners and electricians, the EVO2401 offers the flexibility to operate as a standalone hardwired smoke alarm or be upgraded to a fully wireless interconnected system by adding the optional EVOMOD RF Module. Once installed, the module enables RF interconnection with up to 40 compatible Emerald alarms and allows wireless control, testing and monitoring using the Emerald Smoke Alarm Controller (EP-SA-CONT-RF).

The EVO2401 uses Advanced Split Spectrum Technology with a dual-emitter, single-receiver photoelectric chamber. It is designed to provide responsive detection of slow-smouldering fires while helping reduce unwanted alarms caused by common airborne interference.
Double mesh protection adds a physical barrier around the sensing chamber to help prevent insects, dust and humidity from affecting performance. This supports more reliable detection and can reduce avoidable service callouts caused by environmental contamination.
EchoTag provides quick access to product and diagnostic information through the EchoTag mobile app. It can support installation records, servicing and troubleshooting without requiring the alarm to be removed from its base.
To activate EchoTag:
- Download the EchoTag app from your app store on a compatible mobile device
- Open the EchoTag app on a compatible mobile device
- Position the device close to the EVO2401
- Press the EVO2401 Test/Hush button five times within five seconds
- The EVO2401 alarm will transmit product information through its sounder
- Follow the prompts in the EchoTag app to view the available information
Tip: For best results, use EchoTag in a reasonably quiet environment.
E Memory allows an electrician or homeowner to identify the most recent event recorded by the EVO2401. Press the Test/Hush button twice within two seconds:
- No beep: No previous event
- One beep: Previous low-battery warning
- Two beeps: Previous fault condition
- Three beeps: Previous smoke alarm activation
Lifetime Memory provides a longer-term record of up to 20 alarm activations. Press the Test/Hush button four times within four seconds. Each recorded activation is represented by one beep and one red LED flash.
The EVO2401 also provides a 72-hour Alarm Memory indication. If the alarm has recently activated, the red LED flashes three times every 48 seconds, helping installers locate the originating alarm after the property has returned to normal.
Yes. The EVO2401 supports two interconnection options:
Hardwired interconnection: Connects up to 24 compatible Emerald 240V alarms on one circuit, with a maximum interconnect cable length of 150 metres.
Optional RF interconnection: Adding the EVOMOD RF Module enables wireless connection with up to 40 compatible Emerald RF-enabled alarms.
The RF option also allows the system to work with the Emerald Smoke Alarm Controller and SafeLink WiFi Hub. The Smoke Alarm Controller can provide accessible testing, silencing and alarm location when the interconnected system is configured through RF.
Note: The EVO2401 must not be interconnected using hardwired interconnection and RF modules simultaneously. Installers must select and commission the appropriate interconnection method for the system.
The EVO2401 includes several installation and commissioning safeguards:
- The alarm cannot be attached correctly unless its replaceable 9V backup battery is installed
- The battery automatically activates the alarm when inserted
- A green LED confirms that 240V mains power is present
- A red LED pulse every 48 seconds confirms normal standby operation
- A wrong-wiring warning produces one beep every two seconds, alerting the installer to isolate the circuit and check the connections
- Active, neutral, earth-loop and interconnect terminals each accommodate two 1.5 mm² conductors
Installation must be completed by a licensed electrician. Before handover, confirm both LED indicators are operating correctly, press and hold the Test/Hush button, and verify that all interconnected alarms activate within 25 seconds.
